Postdoctoral Fellow

Multiple postdoc positions are open, with flexibility in research direction.

What we're looking for

  • Ph.D. (or near completion) in computational biology, statistics, computer science, physics, or a related quantitative field — or a strong wet-lab Ph.D. with computational experience.
  • Solid programming skills (Python; one of PyTorch / JAX is a plus) and comfort with large-scale genomics data.
  • A track record of first-author publication or strong preprints.
  • Curiosity about biological questions and the willingness to engage with both methods and experiments.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits aligned with CUHK-Shenzhen guidelines.
  • Generous compute resources and access to institutional sequencing and clinical collaborations.
  • Mentorship for the next career step — academic faculty, industry, or otherwise.

To apply, email zhijianli [at] cuhk.edu.cn with: (1) CV with publication list, (2) a 1-page research statement on the questions you'd like to pursue, and (3) contact information for 3 references.

PhD Students

Applications are accepted through the CUHK-Shenzhen graduate programs.

Prospective PhD students should apply directly through the School of Medicine graduate program and indicate interest in the Colab in their statement of purpose. Feel free to email the PI in advance with your CV and a short note on which research directions interest you.

We welcome students from quantitative backgrounds (CS, math, statistics, physics, engineering) as well as biology and biomedical sciences. Strong programming and quantitative reasoning matter more than a specific course list.

Research Assistants & Visiting Scholars

We host research assistants (typically post-bachelor or post-master, 1–2 year commitment) and visiting scholars (sabbatical or short-term collaborations). RA positions are an excellent path into a Ph.D. program; reach out with your CV and a short note describing your goals.

Undergraduate Researchers

CUHK-Shenzhen undergraduates interested in research are welcome to inquire about term-time or summer projects. We look for self-motivated students who can commit to a continuous block of time on a focused project.
